OCC: The procedural review of WLFI's application for a banking license will remain non-politicalBlockBeats News, January 25, the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) stated that any political or personal financial relationships will not affect its procedural review of the Trump family crypto project WLFI's application for a banking license. Anti-crypto Senator Elizabeth Warren requested a suspension of WLFI's national trust bank license application unless the Trump family sells its stake in WLFI, but the OCC has rejected Warren's request. Jonathan Gould, the OCC's Chief Counsel, stated in a letter replying to Warren, "The OCC intends to fulfill this review responsibility, not to satisfy your request." For a long time, it has been difficult for crypto companies to obtain a US national trust bank license. However, there was a breakthrough in December last year, when the OCC conditionally approved Ripple, Circle, Paxos, BitGo, and Fidelity Digital Assets—five digital asset institutions—to transition into federally chartered national trust banks.

Global Mining Stocks Surge, Potentially Ushering in a New SupercycleAccording to a report by Jinse Finance on the 24th, global mining stocks have been placed at the top of must-buy lists by fund managers. The MSCI Global Metals & Mining Index has surged nearly 90% since the beginning of 2025, outperforming popular sectors such as semiconductors, banking stocks, and the "Tech Seven Giants," making it one of the best-performing asset classes of the year. Not only has the price of copper soared by 50% during the same period, but prices of multiple metals such as aluminum, silver, nickel, and platinum have also generally risen. Capital flows clearly confirm this trend: a monthly survey by Bank of America shows that the net overweight ratio of European fund managers in the mining sector has reached 26%, a four-year high. The report points out that the recent performance of mining stocks stands in stark contrast to the cold reception they received in previous years. The driving force behind this shift is that the correlation between commodities like copper and aluminum and the economic cycle is weakening: these commodities were previously regarded as "short-cycle trading products" dominated by global economic growth rates, but are now gradually evolving into "structural investment assets." In addition to traditional industrial demand, the proliferation of artificial intelligence data centers, electric vehicles, and the expansion of the robotics industry have also become new pillars of market demand for key minerals such as copper and aluminum. Investors are participating in long-term themes like AI by allocating metals, so whenever weak data impacts mining stocks, bargain hunters rush in. Wu Dilin, research strategist at Melbourne's Pepperstone Group, stated: "Mining stocks have transformed from a dull defensive sector into a strategic anchor that can simultaneously capture changes in monetary policy and geopolitical fluctuations."
