As one of only two local refineries in Australia, this plant is a critical pillar of the region’s fuel supply, with a daily crude oil processing capacity of 120,000 barrels, meeting 10% of the nation’s refined oil demand. The fire directly led to a shutdown of the gasoline production line, immediately widening the local gasoline supply gap and causing market panic to spread rapidly.
