OpenTrade completes $17 million funding round, co-led by Mercury Fund and Notion Capital
BlockBeats reported on May 6 that London-based crypto startup OpenTrade has completed a $17 million strategic financing round, bringing its total funding to over $30 million. The round was led by Mercury Fund and Notion Capital, with participation from a16z crypto, AlbionVC, and CMCC Global. OpenTrade describes itself as an institutional-grade, on-chain platform for lending and stablecoin yield products backed by real-world assets. The company stated it will use the proceeds to expand its infrastructure between permissioned and permissionless systems. The target products for this expansion include a permissionless protocol layer and Curation+, a vault curation framework aimed at helping fintechs, neobanks, treasury departments, and asset issuers devise yield strategies bridging real-world assets and on-chain assets. OpenTrade stated that, unlike typical decentralized finance vault curators who mainly focus on protocol screening, Curation+ leverages regulated asset management oversight to design portfolios between real-world assets and on-chain tools. OpenTrade also said its permissionless infrastructure allows traditional and on-chain asset issuers to connect to decentralized distribution channels via "position tracking tokens," without the need for proprietary infrastructure. As OpenTrade pursues its expansion plan, its total value locked (TVL) surpassed $200 million last year. The company expects its trading volume to expand beyond $1 billion by the end of 2026—the company reached over $250 million in 2025.
