SlowMist: Phishing Attacks Remain the Leading Cause of Fund Theft in Q4, with 300 Cases Reported and $1 Million Recovered
Foresight News reported that SlowMist released the Q4 2025 MistTrack stolen funds analysis. In Q4 2025, 300 reports of stolen funds were received (excluding cases reported through other channels), and approximately $1 million was successfully frozen or recovered in 9 cases. The three main causes of theft incidents were: phishing attacks, scams, and private key leaks. Phishing remains the leading cause of losses, evolving from fake domains to autocomplete hijacking and redirection—phishing is no longer limited to simply "clicking the wrong link." One victim mistakenly sent 50 million USDT to a fake, similar address—the first 3 and last 4 characters were exactly the same.
