Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Siege hit by hacker attack, each player receives $13.33 million worth of in-game currency
According to TechFlow, on December 29, Cointelegraph reported that Ubisoft's popular game "Rainbow Six: Siege" suffered a major hacking attack on December 27. Hackers successfully infiltrated the game servers and distributed 2 billion in-game R6 credits to all player accounts. Based on the in-game pricing (15,000 credits for $99.99), the illegally obtained game currency is valued at approximately $133,000.
Ubisoft urgently shut down the game servers and marketplace on December 28 and is currently performing data rollback operations. The official statement says that players will not be banned for using these illegally obtained credits. The game is currently undergoing a soft launch with a small group of players, and the full restart time has not yet been determined.
