Kalshi postpones launch of US college athlete transfer event contracts
BlockBeats News, December 19, prediction market Kalshi stated that although documents submitted to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) indicate that contracts for the U.S. college athlete transfer market are about to go live, they may ultimately not be officially launched.
Previously, news that Kalshi might launch event contracts related to college athlete transfers sparked outrage from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The president of the NCAA strongly criticized this on Wednesday, stating, "The NCAA strongly opposes college sports prediction markets. Student-athletes have already faced harassment and abuse due to failed bets on their game performance, and now Kalshi wants to offer bets on their transfer decisions and status. This is absolutely unacceptable, as it will put even more pressure on student-athletes and threaten the integrity of competitions and the recruiting process."
