  • SharpLink shifts $200M in ETH to Ethereum Layer 2 network Linea
  • Move aims to improve treasury management and reduce costs
  • Linea’s low fees and scalability appeal to major institutional users

SharpLink, a well-known Ethereum treasury management firm, has just made a bold move—deploying $200 million worth of ETH on Linea, a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The strategy aims to streamline operations, enhance security, and cut down on high Layer 1 transaction fees.

This shift marks a growing trend among institutions leveraging Ethereum’s L2 ecosystems for better capital efficiency. With Ethereum gas fees often spiking during high activity, Layer 2 networks like Linea offer a faster and more affordable alternative while maintaining compatibility with Ethereum’s security and smart contracts.

Why Linea? Speed, Cost, and Compatibility

Linea, developed by Consensys, is designed for scalability without sacrificing decentralization. It uses zero-knowledge rollups (zk-rollups) to bundle transactions and settle them efficiently on Ethereum. This allows for near-instant transactions with a fraction of the gas cost.

By deploying a large portion of its treasury on Linea, SharpLink is betting on a future where institutional-grade asset management can occur in faster and cheaper environments—without losing the benefits of Ethereum’s underlying security model.

Linea also provides seamless integration with existing Ethereum infrastructure, making it easier for firms like SharpLink to transition without overhauling their entire systems.

Growing Institutional Interest in Ethereum Layer 2s

SharpLink’s move could inspire other institutions to follow suit. With Ethereum L2 adoption rising, more firms are starting to recognize the benefits of scalability, low fees, and capital efficiency these solutions bring.

The $200M deployment not only reflects trust in Ethereum’s broader ecosystem but also highlights how firms are adapting their treasury strategies to meet modern blockchain demands.
