Google has introduced a new AI-driven tool to help Gmail users who also use Google Calendar arrange meetings more efficiently. On Tuesday, the company unveiled a Gemini-powered “Help me schedule” function, which identifies the best meeting times based on your calendar and presents them to the person you’re emailing to coordinate a meeting.

According to Google, this feature is intended for scheduling one-on-one meetings, and does not support group or multi-person meetings.

This new capability arrives alongside a series of Google Workspace updates aimed at integrating AI more deeply into daily productivity tools. These updates include the debut of Google’s latest image editing model, Nano Banana, new Gemini features in Google Slides, the ability to share custom AI assistants called Gems with colleagues, additional formats in NotebookLM, enhanced AI video features in Google Vids, and more.

To take advantage of the meeting scheduling feature, simply click the new “Help me schedule” button located beneath the Gmail compose window. This will show you a list of available time slots from your calendar. You can use the edit option to modify or remove certain times, then add your selections to the email before sending it. Once the recipient chooses a suitable time, the meeting will automatically be added to both parties’ calendars.

Although there are already several automated scheduling and meeting assistant tools available, such as those from Calendly, Doodle, Zoom, and HubSpot, Google highlights that its solution leverages Gemini’s AI to analyze the context of your emails when suggesting meeting times. For example, if your email mentions wanting to schedule a 30-minute meeting, the assistant will only propose half-hour slots that fit your calendar before the end of the following week.

Previously, Google Calendar included an appointment scheduling feature, but it was not connected to Gmail and did not utilize AI technology.

In addition, Google announced on Tuesday that reminders set in Google Keep will now be automatically transferred to Google Tasks.
