Ethereum Mainnet Set to Launch L1 zkEVM, Significantly Enhancing Scalability
BlockBeats News, July 11 — Ethereum Foundation developer Sophia Gold announced that the L1 zkEVM is about to launch on the Ethereum mainnet, which will significantly increase the gas limit and enable native zk-rollup support without compromising security, liveness, or censorship resistance.
As a first step, the Ethereum Foundation zkEVM team has proposed a realtime proving standard, aiming to enable local proof computation in office buildings and even some residential settings. Sophia expects that, with the accelerated progress of multiple zkVMs, this goal could be achieved before the Devconnect Argentina conference in November this year. She also stated that the future of the Ethereum execution layer has arrived.
