X account of World Liberty Financial co-founder hacked, promotes fake Barron Trump memecoin project

The X account of Zach Witkoff, co-founder of the Trump-linked crypto project World Liberty Financial, was hacked Wednesday.
The hacker promoted a memecoin project related to President Donald Trump's youngest son Barron, claiming that "Trump should confirm the news soon," according to social media posts. However, World Liberty Financial confirmed that Witkoff's account had been compromised.
World Liberty Financial said it is addressing the problem as quickly as possible and urged users not to engage with the fake Barron Trump project.
Barron is not the only member of the Trump family to be the subject of a fake memecoin project. On Jan. 23, Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka warned users about a memecoin project using her likeness without her knowledge and said the project defrauded investors out of their "hard-earned money," The Block previously reported.
World Liberty Financial is a decentralized finance project. Donald Trump and members of his family, including Barron Trump, are listed as the project's team members . World Liberty Financial launched its own token called WLFI on October 2024.
