Source: Trump's nominee for Air Force chief of staff arranged multi-billion dollar satellite bidding contracts in a way that favored Musk
President Trump nominated Air Force Chief of Staff and current senior official of the US National Reconnaissance Office, Troy Meink, to arrange a multi-billion dollar satellite bidding contract in a way that benefits SpaceX owned by Elon Musk. According to sources, the changes required by the confidential contract led to the Inspector General of the National Intelligence Agency investigating whether Meink improperly directed the deal towards SpaceX. Musk's space project eventually won the contract in 2021. It is currently unclear whether the Inspector General has completed the report or is still conducting the investigation.
