Vitalik: I don't agree with the way the U.S. government's efficiency department overly focuses on handling minor spending mistakes in DOGE
On December 1, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin responded to the US Government Efficiency Department's (DOGE) report on government small expenditure mistakes, stating that "the examples listed are just a small part of all expenditures. If a government optimizes with the goal of 'not making mistakes that would look bad on Twitter', it will not only miss many valuable opportunities but also allow many truly wasteful large-scale projects to continue because they appear 'decent'.
In terms of small-scale public funding, you want to adopt a venture capital-like approach, which can accept numerous failures because its goal is to ensure catching those opportunities that could potentially yield 1000 times return. And for large-scale projects, focus and caution should be exercised."
