Industry insiders: Beam Chain will use zkVM technology to improve scalability, without the need for L2.
Ethereum Foundation (EF) core researcher Justin Drake announced the reset proposal for Ethereum's consensus layer, Beam Chain. Justin Drake stated that Beacon Chain (Ethereum's consensus chain) has been launched for five years. Beam Chain will make improvements in Ethereum block generation, staking, cryptographic consensus and other aspects. The new design will maintain high security and improve performance. Drake emphasized that Beam Chain will not change the Ethereum roadmap but only bundle a set of upcoming changes together. It is expected that Beam Chain will establish specifications by 2025, start writing raw code and testing in 2026, then consider deploying to the main network.
In response to this, industry insiders believe that Beam Chain will use zkVM technology to expand Ethereum's scalability without using Layer 2.
