Telegram Founder: The IP addresses and phone numbers of users who misuse the search function may be provided to law enforcement agencies
Telegram founder Pavel Durov stated on his personal TG channel that Telegram's search function can help users find public channels and bots, but it has also been abused, with some users using this feature to sell illegal goods. Over the past few weeks, a dedicated team at Telegram has significantly enhanced the security of searches using AI technology, making all identified violations inaccessible. Durov also said that Telegram has updated its terms of service and privacy policy to clearly state that violators' IP addresses and phone numbers may be provided to relevant law enforcement agencies upon legal request in order to combat illegal activities and ensure the safety and proper use of the platform.
