Biden reiterates campaign resolve: No one is forcing me to drop out of the race
U.S. President Joe Biden and his top aides are trying to calm growing anxiety among his allies on Capitol Hill and the Democratic Party's top brass. Biden vowed Wednesday to continue his re-election campaign, rejecting pressure from within the Democratic Party to drop out. This comes after Biden's poor performance in the debate raised questions about him. A top Biden aide reportedly posted Biden's comments on the social media platform X saying, "I'm running, I'm the leader of the Democratic Party, and no one is pressuring me to drop out [of the race]." Biden and Harris made a surprise appearance on a Democratic National Committee conference call, according to three people familiar with the matter. It was a pep talk that emphasized the stakes of the election and returned to Biden's earlier post-debate comments that he would get back up after being "knocked down," the people familiar with the matter said.
