Federal Reserve: Last year, 18 million Americans used or owned cryptocurrency
According to the latest annual household survey by the Federal Reserve, the number of American adults who reported owning or using cryptocurrencies fell to about 18 million last year. According to the Survey of Household Economics and Decision-making (SHED) released by the Federal Reserve on May 21, within the 12 months up until October last year, 7% of surveyed American adults said they had used cryptocurrencies, lower than 10% in 2022 and 12% in 2021. Only 1% of adults stated that they use cryptocurrency as a payment method or for remittances, down by half from 2022, while seven percent of adults purchase or hold cryptocurrencies as an investment.
