This article explains how to transfer US stocks to Bitget through rToken Stock Transfer, including the transfer process, fees, processing times, supported assets, eligibility requirements, and step-by-step instructions.

Basic Concepts & Mechanisms

1. What is rToken stock transfer?

rToken Stock Transfer is a bridge service that enables users to move eligible U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs from external traditional brokers into Bitget. Using a Free of Payment (FOP) transfer, the securities are moved to Bitget’s designated Alpaca Omnibus account and automatically converted into corresponding rTokens to be credited to your Bitget spot account.

2. How does the rToken transfer work on Bitget?

The process involves 4 simple steps:

  • Initiate: Submit a transfer-in request on Bitget to obtain our receiving account details.

  • Transfer: Initiate an FOP securities transfer with your external broker using the provided details.

  • Mint: Once securities reach Bitget’s designated Alpaca Omnibus account, the system automatically converts the holdings into rTokens through the In-Kind Tokenization Network (ITN).

  • Credit: rTokens are credited to your Bitget spot account for trading and ecosystem use.

3. What is FOP (Free of Payment) transfer, and why does Bitget use it instead of ACATS?

FOP (Free of Payment) is a standard securities transfer method that moves securities ownership without cash settlement. Bitget uses FOP because the ACATS (Automated Customer Account Transfer Service) system requires the receiving broker to be a direct DTC Member or Clearing House (FINRA licensed). Currently, we use FOP to seamlessly receive your stocks into our designated Alpaca Omnibus account before converting them to rTokens via ITN.

4. Will my traditional stocks be automatically converted into crypto assets (rTokens)?

Yes. Once the traditional stocks arrive at our designated account, Bitget’s ITN automation instantly and automatically mints them into corresponding rTokens.

5. Is the process of converting transferred stocks into rTokens fully automated?

Yes. Unlike cumbersome two-step manual processes on other platforms, Bitget provides a "one-click direct transfer." The ITN automation instantly mints rTokens upon receipt of the stocks, offering a true "set it and forget it" migration experience.

Fees & Processing Time

6. Are there any fees for transferring stocks into Bitget to mint rTokens?

There is a $0 transfer-in fee on Bitget’s side. However, please note that your external broker may charge its own outbound transfer fees according to their policies.

7. How much does it cost to transfer my rTokens out back to an external broker?

The transfer-out fee is $150 per request (per asset). Note: If the transfer-out fails, the fee will not be charged.

8. How long does it usually take to complete a stock transfer-in or transfer-out?

The estimated processing time is approximately 10 business days. Actual timing may vary based on your external broker's processing speed, asset review, and operational procedures.

Supported Assets & Limitations

9. How many types of US stocks and ETFs are supported for rToken transfer on Bitget?

Bitget boasts the largest stock coverage in the market, supporting over 3,000+ U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs.

10. Can I transfer fractional shares (less than 1 share) or cash into Bitget?

No. Bitget only supports the transfer of whole shares. Fractional shares (less than 1 share) and cash transfers are strictly not supported.

11. Are OTC (Over-The-Counter) stocks supported for rToken transfer?

No, OTC securities are not supported. Additionally, securities that are not currently supported for rToken trading on Bitget are not eligible for transfer.

12. Can I transfer stocks from a broker account registered under a different name?

No. For compliance reasons, the name on your external broker account must strictly match your identity verification name on Bitget. Third-party transfers are not allowed.

Step-by-Step Operations & Troubleshooting

13. How do I initiate a stock transfer-in request on the Bitget app/website?

You can initiate the request by following this path: Homepage >> More >> Assets >> Stock Transfer >> Select "Transfer In". From there, select your external broker (or choose "Other Broker" and manually enter their details, including their processing email and DTC#), enter your account number, upload the required documents, and submit the request.

14. What documents do I need to provide when transferring stocks from another broker?

You need to upload a recent account statement or proof of position from your external broker. It must meet the following criteria:

  • The Name must match your Bitget account.

  • The Account Number must be correct.

  • The Ticker symbol and Quantity must match your transfer request.

  • The document must be generated within the last 3 months.

15. What should I do on my external broker's side after submitting the transfer-in request on Bitget?

You must initiate a "Transfer Out" instruction with your external broker. Since procedures vary by broker (some use App/Web forms, others require contacting customer service to fill out a form), please contact your broker's customer support to confirm their specific FOP outbound transfer process and provide them with Bitget's receiving details.

16. How can I check my transfer history or cancel a pending transfer request?

Go to Homepage >> More >> Assets >> Stock Transfer, and click the History/Records icon in the top right corner. You can filter by "Transfer In/Out" or by date. If a transfer request is still pending and has not been processed yet, you can click on it to cancel the request. (Note: Modifying a request is currently not supported; you must cancel and submit a new one).

17. What happens if the position details on my account statement don't match the transfer request?

Your transfer request will be immediately rejected. Requests are strictly rejected if the name is inconsistent, if the ticker/quantity on the statement doesn't match, or if there are obvious errors in the submitted information.

Utilities & Ecosystem Benefits

18. What can I do with my rTokens once the transfer is completed? Can I use them for margin trading?

Yes. Once converted, your rTokens achieve immediate capital efficiency. Without needing to sell your stocks, you can use them within the Bitget ecosystem for margin trading, crypto borrowing & lending, and other yield-generating products. Furthermore, rTokens support 24/7 trading, completely eliminating the traditional T+1 settlement wait time.
